Building the Garapito Trail is a short film by N. Paul Kenworthy (1925-2010).
It is a very rare example of historic film footage documenting trail-building in the Santa Monica Mountains by the Sierra Club.
Paul was a longtime Sierra Club member, as well as an award winning film maker, camera systems inventor, entrepreneur, and one of the Disney Legends. In addition to be being an active hiker, backpacker, climber and skier, Paul was a regular volunteer with our trail crew.
Construction of the Garapito Trail in Topanga State Park was completed in 1987. The trail was aligned by Ron Webster, and built by the Sierra Club trail crew.
